FARM-FRESH PRODUCE

We grow a wide variety of fresh produce for farmer's markets in our Southern California area. Everything is grown without chemical fertilizers, without chemical pesticides, and with an eye towards improving the crop by improving the soil first. Water is at a premuim here, and we stress our crops ( which increases antioxidant activity of the plant ) by withholding water. We have unique items, often times they can't be found anywhere else. All can be shipped, depending on the season, weather and how perishable the crop is. Shipping is extra for our farm fresh produce.

Rare Earth Potatoes

No Image Available

$ 10.00 USD

As potato breeders, we sample tubers from all over the world- Mexico, Canada, South America, Peru, South Korea and so on. They come in all colors- red, blue, white, yellow, tan, brown, with all different colors. These potatoes are delicious and unusual. They won't make our high standards for breeding, but they make for a fine meal.  Price is per pound. Shipping extra.

Red Torpedo Onions

$ 10.00 USD

These long, sweet red onions, sometimes called Giant Shallots, are a throwback to the Italian past, where in the city of Tropea they throw a festival in honor of this delicious onion. They were once seen in farmer's markets everywhere, but slowly and surely farmers have abandoned this onion in favor of the rock hard storage types. A shame, really. This tangy, zesty sweet onion is a real head turner and show stopper. When you really want to make an impression, give these a try.

Seasonal- from about July until about February. Shipping extra.

Rainbow Pride Carrots

$ 10.00 USD

A stunning and diverse mix of multi-colored carrots. We crossed several lines to get these colors and this sweet taste- seedstock from Africa, India, France, Asia and America. The colors range from red, white, yellow, purple, tan, orange, with all shades in between, often two or more colors on the same carrot. Wildly unique. Carrots are washed once. Price is per pound. Shipping extra.

Rita's Famous Salad Mix

$ 20.00 USD

Long time customer Rita Harrah kept a close eye on my very first attempts to grow salad mix many years ago. She was especially concerned about balancing the greens, with not too much oxalic acid, and more protein. Over time, I would set aside a certain mix for her labeled simply "Rita's Mix". When her mix proved to be the most popular, I put it front and center, and sold out every week.

We have kales, mustards, spinach, asian greens, chicories, small broccoli leaves, and a seasonal selection of amaranth, quinoa, and many others. Complimentary flavors and textures, not much lettuce. Will keep for up to 2 weeks properly stored. Washed well. Price is per lb. Shipping extra.
